"Hanoi Hilton" or Hoa Lo Prison

The French built this prison to house anti colonial revolutionaries. After the French left in 1954 all the political prisioners were released. The prision was then used for American POWs. The American POWS nicknamed the prison "Hanoi Hilton" The third photo is how the French kept their prisioners. There is an area describing the treatment of the American POWs but it is all propoganda. Amy is standing in front of the original doors. Maison Centrale means prision in the center of the city. The first picture is not where our POWs were held!
