An Hoa Combat Base

Our next stop was the remains of the An Hoa combat base. The base was about 30 miles southwest of Danang. I was there with the 5th Marines in 1970. All that is left is the asphalt runway which was long enough for a C130 Cargo Airplane. I also spotted the remains of some hanger bases. The local people stripped the base after we left. You have to love my hat!

I was at An Hoa and Liberty Bridge in 1969. It is hard to believe that nothing remains. At times I can still see parts of both areas. I hope your trip was fulfilling.

I was at An Hoa with 2/5 from july 67 to Dec 67. Then, on to phu bai and Hue for TET.

I was sadd to see what is left of An Hoa. I was hoping to see hooches, the airstrip and mortar tower.

Oh well....Semper Fi

Hey, Dave. I use to run covoys from Danang to An Hoa in 1967. Sadly one of my USMC home-buddys was killed in a rice paddy while serving with F Company, 2nd Bn 5th Marines. I still think of him after all these years. Semper Fi, my friend. Bob Norfleet

Dear Mr. Dave,
I am a son of a Vietnamese man who had a long time serving for US Army based at Duc Duc District, Quang Nam province. My father’s name is Phan Van Doan, born in 1947, now living in Group 10, An Thanh hamlet, Duy Thu commune, Duy xuyen district, Quang Nam province, Vietnam. His working time began in 1967 and finished in 1972. During that time, he worked for S3, Duc Duc District Headquarters. Since 1975, my father has lost all information about the Americans, also his close friends, whom he worked with. He just can tell me the names but I don’t know how to spell them. He also tells that one of the Americans was an advisor there, one was a doctor and one worked at TOC.
I’m writing to you to ask if you have some ways to know their names and their present residence. My father has missed them much. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this comment. I’m waiting for your reply and help. Thank you and goodbye.
